My Duke of Edinburgh experience was amazing, it was both challenging and rewarding. It encouraged me to do great things for my community like volunteering to help out at a charity store. The best part of the actual expedition was being able to work in a team to navigate and make careful decisions; also the feeling of reaching the campsite was so relieving.
Going on the expedition gave me a sense of independence, I had to cook with basic equipment and keep a close eye on the team’s food but I also worked as part of a team to set up tents and look after our belongings.
As well as the expedition being great fun it also held some great challenges, it required you to push yourself to the best of your abilities, during the 7 hour hike there were times where I wanted to give up but with the encouragement from my optimistic team members I was able to conquer the long steep hills and the narrow and treacherous brambles.
