Students Get Oxbridge Advice

Helen Brookes from Mansfield College, Oxford visited some of our year 11s and year 12s for an interactive discussion about how to apply for Oxford or Cambridge. She also dispelled a few “myths” about who can study at an Oxbridge University.

Luqman, 12H commented:

“The Oxford Presentation helped me to understand life at Oxbridge, from addressing the ways of teaching (lectures and tutorials), the huge range of courses available, learning about different clubs and activities students participate in from the obvious such as sport, to the unusual such as a Tea Appreciation Society, Underwater Hockey and even a Quidditch Team. The Presentation encouraged me to apply to universities such as Oxford and made me feel more positive towards University life in general”

Perhaps one of the most important pieces of advice from Helen is that to Oxbridge, “it does not matter where you come from, it matters where you are going”.
