Eltham Hill Girl Guides receive Jack Petchey Awards

54 girl guides from across South East London came together to receive Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards, two of them were Eltham Hill Students, Paige Wharton (8G) and Charlotte Biro (8L). They received medallions, a framed certificate and a cheque for £250 each.

Charlotte Biro was nominated as she inspires her fellow guides a great deal. Charlotte helps look after her three siblings, she makes sure they do their homework and reads to them. Charlotte puts her younger siblings to bed and keeps them occupied in the morning. Charlotte’s fellow guides are supportive of her and admire how she deals with her responsibilities, – ‘she is always smiling’. She has used her £250 on equipment for her troop.

Paige was nominated, too, by her fellow guide. She acts as a leader and big sister to them. She knows everyone and everyone feels comfortable approaching her if they need help. She has spent the £250 on a kayaking trip for the troop.
