Post 16 Art students recently visited Thames-Side Printmaking Studio in Woolwich, to participate in a one-day etching and silkscreen printing workshop. Our students had the opportunity to work with professional printmakers and to use printmaking techniques in a studio environment.
“The workshop was useful because I acquired knowledge of new techniques and skills. I feel that I gained a lot artistically and it was a great opportunity to further develop my project. My favourite part was the screen printing because I had never done it before and I enjoyed the process of printing.”
“Both workshops were a great opportunity to learn techniques as well as to explore a studio environment. The screen printing and etching techniques are both specialist skills we could not have learnt at school. In terms of my personal A-Level project, I have been able to refine my ideas and develop my use of different medias to progress my work. I would love to come back to the Thames-side Print Studio to evolve my current theme and my next project.”
