Thursday 8th March marked a very special day – International Women’s Day, and to celebrate this occasion a group of Year 10 Prefects, Senior Prefects, and the Head Girl team members attended a conference planned and led by Post-16 students at Plumstead Manor School.
Our students eagerly listened to keynote speeches by inspirational women from our local community, ranging from a Police Inspector to a Member of Parliament. Students were delighted to be supplied with a lovely lunch by the school providing them with the energy to get immersed in an afternoon of interactive workshops. The students involved themselves in discussions around a number of topics, including; gender equality, FGM, domestic violence, gang culture and empowering women (and men too!). The students collectively said of the day, ‘it was a day full of discussion; it was really informative, as well as inspiring’.
Thank you so much to the Plumstead Manor School students for all of the hard work they put into this year’s celebrations of International Women’s Day and for bringing many primary and secondary school from across the Greenwich Borough together.
Here’s to making it bigger and better next year!
