On Saturday 31st of March, 54 students and 8 members of staff departed Eltham Hill School at 14:30 pm heading for Andorra. We arrived in Vallnord at around 10:00 am the following day after a long and tiresome 20-hour coach journey. Shortly after, we began to make our way to the ski rental shop to hire our skis for the following five days of skiing. We then proceeded to make our way up the ski lift to the resort, where we left our skis and boots in a cage for the next day. Soon after we returned down to the village and had a well-deserved meal of delicious pizza in a small Italian restaurant. Later, we made our way to the hotel we would be staying in for the next week and had an early night to prepare ourselves for the challenging day ahead.
The following morning we were woken up bright and early by the eager. Ms. Thorne at 7:45 am and then proceeded to have breakfast at the hotel. We left the hotel to begin our first day of skiing lessons shortly after 9:00 am and were on the slopes by 11. We were divided into groups according to our skiing ability: some made it to the top of the mountain on the first day, however, some who had never skied before, began practicing their skills on the magic carpet. We ended our lessons at 5:00 pm after four challenging hours of skiing and made our way back to the hotel to get ready for our activity, which on this day was bowling. As we concluded our activity we returned to the hotel to have dinner. We skied for five days and every evening had activities planned such as ice skating, shopping, and sledding. By the end of the week, everyone had made it to the top of the mountain and skied down the red and blue slopes. On Friday 6th of April, after our final day of skiing, we departed Andorra at 9:00 pm and arrived back at Eltham Hill at 15:30 pm, after another long yet enjoyable coach journey with many life-long memories.
Thank you to all teachers and fellow students who made the trip so memorable.
