Book Review: An Island of Our Own by Sally Nicholls

Book Review: An Island of Our Own by Sally Nicholls

The book is about a boy called Jonathan. His sister Holly tells him that she’s going to write a book about all the things that happened to them over the last year; the book is about the home-made spaceships and the lock-pickers. The title of the book they are going to write is An Island of Our Own.

My favourite character is Jonathan because he works hard even though his mother is dead and he does his best to make sure that his sister Holly goes to school. My favourite part of the book was when Jonathan went to live with his grandparent and when he was in charge of the details and when he is helping his grandparent. There was a sad scene when his grandad had a stroke which made me cry. The story was gripping and kept me turning the pages.

I think I would recommend the book to younger readers. There are no books that I would compare it to.
