Book Review: Booked by Kwame Alexander

Booked is a novel about a young boy called Nick Hall and the challenges he faces in and out of school. The book does talk a lot about football but you don’t need to be a major fan to read the book.

My favourite character was Mr. Mac or The Mac. He was my favourite character because there was a lot of mystery behind who he was in the storyline and towards Nick which was one of the many things that drew me in. The story was very gripping; I just could not stop reading because there was always something new happening. My favourite part of the book was that characters were very unpredictable (in a good way) and because they were unpredictable it made them more realistic and relatable. However, I couldn’t relate to the Nick mostly because I haven’t been through the situations he has been through. So, because of how he acted towards his circumstances made me care about him less.

I would recommend this book to younger readers as they would relate to the main character more because they could potentially be going through the same things. I would also recommend this to anyone who loves comedy because the book has made me laugh on many occasions especially as it is like nothing I’ve ever read.

5/5
