Post 16 Students Help With Institute of Psychiatry Study

A group of students in our Post-16 volunteered to take part in a new study conducted by researchers at the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London. The study investigates links between experiences of social interactions, social networks and eating behaviours among over 300 young people in the UK. Participants completed questionnaires and computerised tasks and received a £15 Amazon voucher for taking part.

The aim of the study is to identify factors that may put young people more at risk of developing mental health conditions, or factors that make them more resilient. In particular, the team are investigating risk factors for eating disorders (such as anorexia nervosa).

“This was a good experience to see how studies are conducted and how it all goes through. Opened my eyes”.

“A really interesting experience and I learnt a lot of new things”
