Fantastic GCSE Results

Fantastic GCSE Results

We are delighted to celebrate the fantastic results of our 2018 cohort at Eltham Hill School.   Despite the more challenging exams, our students’ attainment at grades 4-9, 5-9  and 7-9 has improved in every area of the curriculum.

This success is reflected in our English and Maths combined results of 70% grades 4-9 and 42% grades 5-9 which are above the National averages for 2017. We are particularly pleased with our huge improvement in Maths with 72% of our students achieving 4-9 grades.

We are thrilled to report our highest ever A*-A (7-9) results, with one-fifth of the cohort achieving five or more A*-A grades and over a third of students achieving three or more A*-A grades.

With the new harder GCSE courses in most subjects and a new 1-9 grading system, we are very proud that our students have exceeded previous attainment and have achieved quite exceptional results in many curriculum areas. Examples include: English Literature 70% 5-9 and 36% 7-9, History 80% 5-9 and 47% 7-9, Spanish 100% 5-9 and 79% 7-9  and Chemistry 96% 5-9 and 65% 7-9. Students taking BTECs have also performed well, achieving the equivalent of 81% A*-C and 16% A*-A.

There have been some astonishing individual performances.  Fifteen students achieved eight or more A*-A grades and seven of them achieved ten or more A*-A grades. Particularly impressive were the results of Alice Barrett and Thea Hellen who both achieved five grade 9s as part of their stack of top grades and Beauty Oluokun who achieved six grade 9s!

We would like to congratulate all of our students. They have shown determination, hard work and tenacity in achieving this excellent set of results.  We would also like to thank our Year 11 parents who have worked with us to support their daughters throughout their time at EHS.

We would also like to congratulate and recognise the dedication and expertise of all our staff whose unwavering commitment to our students has resulted in such a pleasing set of exam results and has prepared them for life beyond Year 11.

We look forward to many of our students enrolling into our sixth form this week to repeat the success of our Year 13 students who have secured places at Oxford and other Russell Group universities this year.
