Eltham Hill Win Disney Circle of Life Award

Eltham Hill Win Disney Circle of Life Award

The Disney Circle of Life Awards is run in partnership with Disney Theatrical Company.

It recognises schools with fantastic community leadership. Our student Eco Team designed and established a new eco-kitchen garden in the school grounds, this award recognised the school and student dedication to improving the local community and healthy approach to sustainability. Our students were lucky enough to win 30 tickets to see The Lion King on the 26th September 2018.

The students designed and established a new eco-kitchen garden in the school grounds.

The school donated to Age UK and their Men in Sheds Team who kindly built 4 external raised planters for the Eco Team’s school allotment project. We donated £400 to the charity to cover the cost of the materials.

Current Eco Team projects include:

– Our ongoing litter team

– Helping maintain the growing area

– Creating weather proof art work for the growing area

– Create a herb/sensory area… this area is intended for staff to use during their non-teaching times/lunch/break etc when you need those moments of quiet etc

– Planting of our wildlife friendly hedging in November

– Fast fashion and sustainability programmes

Side note re: Men in Sheds
Men in Sheds is a charity which creates community spaces for men to connect, converse and create. The activities are often similar to those of garden sheds, but for groups of men to enjoy together. They help reduce loneliness and isolation.
