Edexcel BTEC Level 1/Level 2 First Award in Principles of Applied Science
There are four mandatory units of study. Unit 1 Principles of Science is externally examined. Unit 2 Chemistry and our Earth, Unit 3 Energy and our Universe and Unit 4 Biology and our Environment are internally assessed through the completion of assessment criteria presented in the form of a number of science tasks and outlined on an assignment brief. These tasks clearly show the assessment grading for the award of Pass, Merit or Distinction in that particular task. They are set in a vocational scenario and advice about best presentation to achieve the assessment grading is included on the brief. A clear deadline date is also included on the assignment brief.
