Careers (CEIAG)
Welcome to the Eltham Hill Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) Hub.
Knowing how to advise your child about the wealth of different educational and career options can be confusing and difficult as well as time consuming. These important decisions have to be made several times throughout their academic career: in Year 8 when selecting GCSE’s, in Year 11 deciding on Post 16 options and then again in Year 13 when we have to make the decision between going to university, work or apprenticeships.
The Eltham Hill Careers Page aims to provide you and your daughter / son with a comprehensive range of career guidance information to help you understand the vast range of different opportunities that are available to young people today at each stage they encounter.
There are many websites offering advice and guidance but we have listed a collection of our favourite sites below categorised into key decision stages.
We have also provided a range of PDF guidance sheets that you can download to help you support your child.
Imbedding careers education within our curriculum and ensuring our students have access to employers, workplace visits and university trips throughout their time at Eltham Hill is essential to ensure that our young people are fully prepared and motivated for the world of work that they will soon encounter.
If you have any queries please do contact me. Alternatively, students can book appointments to see me at any stage during their time at Eltham Hill.
I look forward to meeting you in the future.

Independent Careers Advice at Eltham Hill School
We think it is essential that each student has the opportunity to have an interview with an Independent Careers Adviser to assist them when making important decisions about their post 16 and post 18 opportunities. Every student in year 10 and 12 is invited to a 30-minute interview and will be offered advice, feedback and a personal action plan.
A message from Eltham Hill’s Independent Careers Adviser:
“We offer every pupil the opportunity to have a guidance interview. This is available wherever significant study or career choices are being made. As the Careers Adviser, I work with the students offering 1:1 careers guidance in order to meet their individual needs. Together we explore the student’s ideas and options to help them to make informed choices about their future.”
Catherine Leachman, Careers Adviser
Employers – Welcome to our school
We recognise the vitally important link between interaction with employers and the achievement and aspirations of students whilst in school.
Through our range of careers activities, Eltham Hill School aims to provide all our students with many opportunities to meet, speak and engage with professionals from all industry sectors to enable them to make informed choices about their future career routes.
However, we can’t achieve this goal without the help that you, the wider business community, provide to us. If you can contribute your time during the academic year to participate in one of our events such as Careers Speed Networking, Mock Interviews or Careers Discovery Talks, please let me know. We try to ensure that the events will not take you away from work for more than a couple of hours and we will always guarantee you a warm welcome! What’s more, the events are fun, rewarding and a really positive way to help our young people.
Don’t just take our word for it!
“The pupils are a credit to the school, and I was very impressed with their enthusiasm, professional approach and how well they managed the interview process. I interviewed 6 pupils who all communicated well, and it was therefore difficult for me to pick a winner.” NS
“It was a really well organised day and the students were so professional and more job ready than many I have met!” KT
“We really enjoyed the day, thank you.” KB
“It was certainly a really rewarding experience.” SW
“I just wanted to say that I was really impressed with the attitude and enthusiasm of the young people I met today. I grew up locally and went to a local school back in the days when 'careers advice' was pretty much non-existent and there is no way I would have had the confidence that some of those young women had back then. I was particularly impressed with those who were able to convey what they wanted to get across while being authentic to themselves.” MW
