Syllabus: WJEC EDUQAS
The Drama department at Eltham Hill school are committed to allowing all students access to Drama and theatre. We aim to widen participation in arts based activities and promote lifelong learning and engagement for all our students.
We are firmly committed to offering students opportunities to build on their cultural education and develop their own creativity. We arrange several theatre trips throughout the year which are open to all students. We have strong links with theatres such as The Donmar Warehouse, The Royal Court and The Old Vic. We regularly participate in their school schemes such at the Donmar’s ‘Take the stage’ programme.
Every year we participate in the Shakespeare School’s Festival allowing students the opportunity to perform on a professional stage and take on technical roles. We also collaborate with the Music department on the whole school musical.
The drama classroom offers students the opportunity to develop their ability to work within a team setting. They build their performance skills and confidence in a supportive environment. Students develop their communication and listening skills and their ability to empathise with others. The creative industries are now worth £92 billion to our economy. It is an industry that is thriving in tough economic times. In drama, students have the ability to develop their creativity and project planning on courses that still offer high levels of freedom and choice.
Past students have gone on to work in healthcare, hospitality, teaching, law as well as theatres and some of the top drama schools in the country.
