GCSE Success 2024
BackDespite national results being restored to pre-pandemic 2019 levels, we are delighted to say that we have maintained the high results of the last four years and our students have achieved significantly above national and London averages in all key measures.
It was great to see our students and their families celebrating today and to welcome ITV London, our Mayor and representatives from the Royal Borough of Greenwich to celebrate with us.
Our students results at grades 9-7 and grades 9-5 are again outstanding for a completely comprehensive and inclusive school. Nationally 70% of entries for Year 11 pupils received a grade 4, in Eltham Hill this figure is 84%. Nationally 22% of grades were 7-9, at Eltham Hill 30% of all our grades were at this highest level.
Particularly impressive sets of results were recorded by Hope Ng-MC Coy who achieved eight grade 9’s, one grade 8 and 1 grade 7 , Agnes Powell who achieved four grade 9’s, four grade 8’s, two grade 7’s and one grade 6, Siya Sood who achieved four grade 9’s ,three grade 8’s and two grade 7’s, Victoria Aladegbuwa -Awoyemi who achieved three grades 9’s , seven grade 8’s and one grade 7, and Precious Dairo who achieved two grade 9’s, four grade 8’s and four grade 7’s .
Our English Language results are even higher than last year and have continued to be significantly above national averages with 71 % of students achieving grades 9-5, in London overall the figure is 52.6%. Equally impressively 27% achieved a 9-7 grade, nationally this is 19%. Maths results are also very strong with 9-5 results at 63 %, nationally this is 55% and 9-7 at 29%, nationally this is 21%. These coupled with strong results in Languages and History have led to EBacc results that are well above national with 33% of our students achieving above a 5 in all elements of the EBacc.
We even have fourteen subjects where over a third of all the students taking those subjects achieved grades 7-9! They are Music 31%, PE 31%, Spanish 31% , French 38%, Fine Art 38%, Psychology 42% , Sociology 44% , Media 46%, History 48%, Photography 50% and Textiles 88% .
Outcomes for our disadvantaged students and SEND students were impressive too and we predict they will also be significantly above national averages. As a comprehensive and inclusive school, we are pleased that every single one of our students achieved a good range of qualifications and all are in a position to go on to the next stage of their education whether here or elsewhere. We are really proud of each and every one of them.
We would like to congratulate all our Year 11 students and say thank you to their parents and carers who have worked with us over the last five years. We have great teachers and pastoral support here at Eltham Hill and every member of staff has worked really hard to make sure our students were able to fulfill their potential. We are delighted that we all have so much to celebrate and look forward to welcoming many of our students back in September to our successful and high performing 6th Form.
